Network Tokenization
Higher Approvals, Lower Fraud With Network Tokens
Network tokens replace raw card numbers with card-network-issued tokens that are unique to your business. The result: higher authorization rates, lower fraud, automatic card updates, and reduced PCI scope. It is the same card, processed more securely.
Higher Approvals
Issuers approve network-tokenized transactions at higher rates.
Reduced PCI Scope
Raw card numbers never touch your systems.
Auto Card Updates
Reissued and expired cards update automatically through the network.
Card-Network-Issued Token Security
Unlike gateway tokens that simply mask a stored card number, network tokens are issued by Visa and Mastercard directly. The token is tied to your merchant ID, meaning it cannot be used by anyone else. Issuers recognize network-tokenized transactions as more secure, which translates directly into higher approval rates.
Why Network Tokens Matter
Higher Authorization Rates
Issuers trust network tokens because they are cryptographically tied to your merchant ID. Tokenized transactions see measurably higher approval rates than raw card transactions.
Reduced Fraud
Network tokens cannot be used outside your merchant context. Even if token data is intercepted, it is useless to attackers because it only works with your specific merchant credentials.
Automatic Card Updates
When a card is reissued, lost, or expired, the network updates the token automatically. Subscriptions and stored cards continue working without customer intervention.
Reduced PCI Scope
With network tokens, raw card numbers never pass through your systems. This reduces your PCI compliance burden and simplifies your security posture.
Lower Interchange
Some card networks offer interchange incentives for network-tokenized transactions, reducing your per-transaction processing cost.
Works With Existing Cards
Network tokens are provisioned for cards already on file. No customer action is needed. Your stored cards are upgraded to tokens transparently.
